LynxOS is a UNIX-compatible, POSIX-conformant real-time operating system for embedded applications. LynxOS is much more than the UNIX operating system with real-time extensions. The LynxOS kernel has been developed to provide hard real-time response and is scalable, fully re-entrant, pre-emptible, and ROMable.

Xycom Automation in conjunction with SYSGO Real-Time-Solutions has developed an easy-to-use LynxOS Board Support Package (BSP) for its latest generation of VMEbus PC processors. The LynxOS BSP provides a driver to allow simple user-configurable VMEbus memory mapping and interrupt handling. A driver is also provided for the 10/100 Mbit Intel 82558 Ethernet controller used on the latest Xycom Automation processors. LynxOS release 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 3.0 and 3.1 are supported by this powerful board support package.
